Nike Global Apparel Tech & Developement

Fit & Craft Kit

These "Fit & Craft Kits" I designed and project managed for the Nike Global Apparel Tech & Development Team. The Tech Dev team is in charge of making sure all Nike Apparel fits as it is designed to, and all of technology is functioning how it should (zippers, materials breathing/wicking, etc.).

They came to me with needing a way to standardize the fit and craft of every apparel item world wide. Men's Apparel alone is made in 21 factories all over the world, each with different equipment and languages. So it was no wonder shorts from one factory looked and fit differently than shorts from another factory.

So we decided we would reduce all Men's apparel to be based on 7 basic silhouettes world wide. Then we would create a "Fit & Craft Kit" for each silhouette, and that would be considered the new global standard for all Men's factories.

These kits consisted of: a physical paper pattern of the clothing silhouette, a cloud based flash drive with the digital patterns that could be pushed updates globally at any time, a physical sample of the clothing item for refence, a branded industry standard metal measuring tape, a notebook for writing measurements and notes, and graphic based instruction so no matter the language of the user they would understand how to use the kit.

I designed all the housing and branding for the entire kit, as well as managed the enormous printing and shipping process across the globe with my trusted print vendor I have worked with for years. We delivered every kit on time to every factory globally, even dealing with taxes and custom issues.
